Heated Manhole Cover
Material: carpet, heating pad, polyester batting
Diameter: 130cm Thickness: 10cm

“Heated Manhole Cover” is a work trying to raise awareness toward homeless people. In winter, homeless people like to sleep on manhole cover because the heat underneath will warm them. The artist made a soft, enlarged, and heated manhole cover with a rug, heating pad, and polyester batting, which is very comfortable to lie on to express her care toward the homeless people. However, this piece will be placed gallery space only, facing the visitors who are from the middle or upper class who do not need heat from a manhole cover, in order to create the confrontation of both comfortableness and “uncomfortableness”.
