Ring-tossing Game
Material: abandoned trophies (toppers), plywood, pine, hardware, plastic tossing rings
Dimension: W 49.5”x D 48” x H 55”
Using abandoned/donated trophies that I collected across the Hamilton GTA area. The topper of the trophies, which are little human figures doing different activities, interestingly also reflects the gender issues in sports, the trophy toppers are arranged in a way to form narratives to highlight the issues.
Viewers will interact with this installation and be part of making the work (the sound, the rings left on the trophies, the body movement, and the movement of rings sliding down…). The ring-tossing game directly reflects the experience of people aiming at/chasing after what we call "achievements".
