My art language system is built based on people’s visual understanding of everything in their daily life: chairs are for people to sit, cushions are soft and comfortable, garbage bins are for things that are useless etc.I like to use ordinary everyday objects as material, because they are material with the least “language barrier” that everyone can relate to.
Ideally, I do not make anything in my art practice, I re-present objects in an “unnatural” or “unusual” way that makes viewers wonder. In my work Congratulations, I combined the visual information of a trap and a garbage bin together, which also turned the crumbled paper with the text “congratulations” into both a lure and a piece of garbage.
